Forms of Green Energy

After realising just how dangerous it is to burn fossil fuels people across the world recruited the best engineers and scientists to get ideas for creating safe energy. Many of the energy forms we use today have been around for centuries. Many are done by using cutting edge technology. Here I will give brief overview of the main renewable sources we use today.

Wind Power
People have been using wind power for generations but it is only recently that we have been able to transform this energy into electrical power. The advantages of wind power are plentiful; it's cheap once set up, quite efficient and produces no waste products. An obvious reason is of course it is green and does not contribute to global warming. It is also renewable which means it will not run out unlike the fossil fuel energies of the past.

Solar Power
In comparison to wind power, solar energy is a little more expensive to set up, and only works in the daytime but it is more efficient than wind power and gives a greater yield of energy. It is also slightly more aesthetically pleasing than a great big turbine on your roof.

The Importance of Sustainability

Many climate change activists are worried about the consequences of global warming. While I think we should be equally concerned there are many scientists and politicians who do not believe there is sufficient evidence to support the global warming claim.

After making this ill informed decision they think that none of the claims are true, such as the importance of recycling and new forms of energy. What they should remember is that fossil fuel reserves will eventually run out and without energy the economy would grind to a standstill. Our society would not last long without fossil fuels and riots would incur.

The worlds governments seem to be preparing on a small scale but do not realise the significance and scale of the problem. Every individual homeowner needs to take responsibility and start to save energy and generate their own energy. Once most homes become self sustainable our economy would stand a better chance of surviving the end of fossil fuels. My advice is to look into small scale forms of renewable energy and you could even make profits from investing in green energy sources.

Non Renewable Sources

A non renewable energy source is one which is finite and will eventually run out.

The main 3 non renewable sources are coal, oil and natural gas. All these sources are extracted from the earth which requires energy which probably comes from non renewable sources. All 3 sources are transformed into energy by burning them. When burnt they release gases which are used to turn a turbine which basically rotates a magnet inside a coil of wire, inducing an electric current.

-->

These gases may be useful by spinning a turbine however the gases are very harmful to the atmosphere. The most harmful gas released is carbon dioxide which causes the greenhouse effect and therefore climate change. Another problem is that these sources will eventually run out, and if the world is not prepared we could see mass panic and even extinction of the human race.

My advice is to invest in clean, renewable energy sources and to become self sufficient. Oil prices are going to increase exponentially as reserves decrease. Buy wind turbines and solar panels to be prepared for what is to come. An investment today can benefit you more than it first appears.

Climate Change

Here i will give a brief beginner's description of climate change.

At the start of the industrial revolution we began to require energy to power machines and the easiest way to do this was by burning fossil fuels. The consequences of this were not realised until some years later.

-->

When fossil fuels such as coal, oil and gas are burnt they release carbon dioxide into the atmosphere. The suns light can penetrate this layer of carbon dioxide as UV rays which in turn warm up the surface of the earth. This infrared heat however cannot escape back out of the atmosphere causing the greenhouse effect. With this heat being trapped continuously over a long time, the average temperatures across the globe start to increase (climate change).

This causes a whole host of problems such as melting of the ice caps, which cause sea levels to rise, which means some countries will be flooded. It forces animals out of their natural habitats and can lead some to extinction having knock on effects on whole ecosystems, including us as we are at the top of the global ecosystem and therefore the most affected.

Make Money The Eco Way

Have you ever wanted to make money whilst sleeping? If the answer is yes then I suggest you look into renewable energy sources for your home. With a simple small wind turbine on your roof it is possible to generate more energy than you use and even be able to sell this excess energy back to the grid. Add in the possibility of a few solar panels on your roof and the money comes rolling in. Plus you can forget about your expensive electricity bills.

The main reason people overlook this great idea is because they think the money they make will not be worth the initial costs. While it is true that it may take a few years to cover your losses, they do not realise that after this they will have an extra source of income. BRINGING IN MONEY WHILST YOU SLEEP!

Some do not look into the idea due to planning permission scares. However what we must remember is that our world is in crisis and will soon run out of oil and other fossil fuels, therefore the government are encouraging things like this. Surprisingly it is relatively simple to gain planning permission for renewable energy sources. To simply save money on electriciy bills right away, see: Tips To Go Green
